Which King do you call?
Answer
The K
. If a player holds it, that player is your Partner and adds about two tricks to your One. If it lies in the talon, the king-rescue lets you take the talon card that holds it, so you play alone, which is all that calling your own K
would ever give you. Calling the K
can only help.
Rule: Call a King and expect the partnership to add about two tricks. Calling a King that turns out to be in the talon also leaves you alone, but then the king-rescue applies: you may take the group that contains your called King, the talon cards you did not take are set aside face-down, and when you play that King later, these cards go face-up onto the trick, and the player who wins the trick takes them.
