You hold no Spade and no Tarok. Which card do you play?
Answer
The 7
from your pile. With no Spade and no Tarok you may play any card, and the Declarer wins the trick whatever you play. The 7
and the 10
carry no pip, so they cost you the same, and the pile card brings you that pile’s last card. The C
or the Q
would give the Declarer 2 or 3 pips.
Rule: When two cards cost you the same, you should play the pile card, because it brings you a new card from that pile. Two cards cost you the same if the same player wins the trick with either card and both cards are worth the same number of Card Points.
